How do I test for myself whether AI sees my site as empty?
Switch JavaScript off in your browser and reload your home page. If an empty area or a loading animation remains, that is what part of the AI crawlers fetch — with no error message, because technically the response is fine. The page is not broken; it is empty at the moment that counts.
What do you build if I have no website yet?
A site whose text comes along in the server's first response, with the structure an assistant needs to know what you are, where you operate and what you offer. That is not a layer on top of a design but a choice in how the pages are built, and on a new site it costs nothing extra.
When do you advise against a new site?
When the measurement shows your text is being read and the problem sits elsewhere. That is more common than expected: a site that is perfectly readable and still turns up nowhere is usually missing sources outside its own domain, and a new front page does not get you those.
What happens to the visibility of my old addresses?
They move along if the old addresses keep pointing at the new ones, and they disappear if that does not happen. The underestimated part is not the search engine but the assistants: they sometimes fetch an address again months later, and a dead address then produces not an error but silence.

Yes, and with the measurement around it: a baseline before the first line of code, and the same questions again once the site is up. Without that first point a new site is an improvement nobody can attach a figure to.
Can my own builder do this too?
Certainly, and then our useful role becomes a different one: supplying the requirements and measuring afterwards whether they were met. That is cheaper for you and it is nicer work for a builder than a wish list with no test attached.
