What does my page look like when a machine summarises it?

Which fields does a machine read out, and what for?

Seven of the eight are about how your page looks when someone shares it: the image, the title, the description and your site name. That is presentation, and it is worth having because a share without an image demonstrably gets fewer clicks.

The eighth is the canonical address, and it does something else: it states which address is the real one when the same page exists in several places. Missing it, with two addresses for the same content, everything you build up splits across two pages.

What makes a good meta description?

One that answers the question instead of announcing the page. "Everything about our services" is an announcement; "What a dental check-up costs in Belgium and what happens during one" is an answer, and the second can be lifted.

Why is structured data the key row here?

Because the other seven fields persuade a human and that one persuades a machine. An assistant having to understand your page does not read your open-graph title but the structure stating what you are, what you offer and where you are.

Frequently asked questions

My share image does not show. Why?

Usually one of three things: the image address is relative instead of absolute, the file sits behind a block, or it is too small. This preview fetches the image the way a shared message does, so what you see here is what appears there.

Do these tags help me in AI answers?

Seven of the eight barely: an assistant reads your page itself, not the snippet below it. The exception is structured data, which is why it sits as a separate line under the table rather than in it.
